OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course all learners will:

• Understand the role of US in assessment of shock and hypotension.

• Recognize the role of US in assessment of tamponade.

• Recognize the role of US in assessment of pneumothorax and pleural effusion.

• Recognize the role of US in assessment of aortic aneurysm and DVT.

• Demonstrate appropriate technique in obtaining images and identification of structures.

• Learn the basics of how to use a Philips cardiac echo machine

• Learn to obtain all common cardiac echo windows

• Assess chamber sizes and function

• Perform a basic cardiac valvular assessment
